The Ancient Geography of India by Alexander Cunningham is a standard treatise on the subject, and is an indispensable handbook for those who are interested in Indian Antiquities. First published in 1871, and so naturally some portions have become to some extent antiquated in the light of more recent knowledge. However, it has not been superseded and still remains essential. The present edition has been edited and supplemented with the new introduction and notes by Surendranath Majumdar Sastri.
