This book has been written primarily for the medical students, medical officers and lawyers, especially those dealing with medicolegal problems. A Registered Medical Practitioner should have sufficient knowledge of laws & ethical aspects of Good Medical Practice, in order not to conflict with it during his/her professional practice. For that he/she ought to be familiar with various Acts, Rules & Regulations that are in force or else he/she may find himself/herself inadvertently contravening these & courting trouble & also amounting to professional misconduct attracting disciplinary action by the authorities. For that reason, provision of laws relating to medical practice in undergraduate/graduate curriculum should be seriously considered.
