India and Malaysia share historical ties through British colonial rule. India, under the British Raj from 1858 to 1947, was a major part of the British Empire, influencing the global economy, politics, and culture. After gaining independence in 1947, India became the world's largest democracy. Malaysia, once a British colony, gained independence in 1957. It was formed from Malaya, British Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak), and Singapore, though Singapore later separated in 1965. Both nations have rich, diverse cultures, and while India is a vast subcontinent, Malaysia is a dynamic Southeast Asian country known for its multicultural society and thriving economy.
