HUMAN RIGHTS: Concept and Standards

During the half-century since the adoption of the United Nations Charter in 1945 and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, a comprehensive international human rights law embracing many international instruments has been created. An analysis and presentation of the conceptual framework and adopted human rights standards is the main objective of this volume. It presents reflections on historical perspectives and philosophical foundations of human rights. It gives a detailed analysis of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights as well as the rights of persons belonging to such vulnerable groups as women, children, minorities, indigenous people and migrant workers, and the interrelation between humanitarian law and human rights.
