Papers presented at the Symposium have been arranged in five parts. The papers in the first part set the conceptual frame within the parameters of which deliberations took place. The remaining three parts deal with three significant facets of rural development with which the geographers interacted viz., land use, rural economic activity, and transport and marketing. The final part discusses the role of geography and geographers in the process and geographers in the process of integrated rural development as a whole.
