Geo-Economic Survey of Lakshadweep

This book is the product of the research project on ‘Geo-Economic Survey of Lashadweep’, sponsored by the U.G.C. It was a collaborative research of the Geography Department of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Geology Department of Bangalore University, Bangalore and Economics Department of Calicut University, Trichur. The field work was undertaken by the combined team of geographers, economists and geologists spread over several field seasons. Latest data were collected from various sources of published materials and almost last work has been told on this island territory of India. Never before such a study was undertaken by any scholar by taking a wholistic approach of the problems of the Lakshadweep. This book will fill the long felt need of geo-economic aspects of this frontier islands in the Arabian Sea which has gained added importance in the changing geo-politics scenario in the Indian Ocean. This book will be useful for the physical and social scientists, military planners and planners.
