Concepts of Riti and Guna in Sanskrit Poetics in the Historical Development

This volume is a study of the two concepts of Sanskrit Alamkara viz., Guna and Riti which are intimately allied to each other, in the different creative writers of the Sastra from Bharata down to Jagannatha. In tracing the development of the Riti-Guna theory, it has been the aim of the author to utilise all available sources- printed texts as well as manuscripts- and he has based his deductions from the writings of different theorists only after close, careful and critical observations of the various points in their treatment of these topics.
