Communities Panchayats and Governance at Grassroots

This volume, containing seven articles, attempts to examine the role of Community Panchayats in the affairs of the communities in the context of the establishment of grassroots governing institutions through the 73rd Constitutional Amendment in India. Analyzing the interface between the Community Panchayats and Constitutional Panchayats in managing the entitlements of the community, it traces the factors responsible for conflict and synergy between the two. Special emphasis is put on natural resource management.
