Agricultural Modernization and Social Change in India Villages

In spite of increasing modernization and migration of large number of rural population in urban and industrial areas, maximum number of people still live in villages. Their economy is directly or indirectly dependant on agriculture or allied activities. During last several decades efforts have been made by the State to modernize agricultural activities with the help of number of schemes in order to address the problem of food insufficiency. Krishi Vigyan Kendra is one of these initiatives. How this initiative was perceived and used by villages at large and to what extent it brought about modernization in farm work, how it impacted cropping pattern, income and subsequently contributed to social change? These were some of the broad objectives of the study. The book is quite useful for all those scholars, students and agents of change who have interest in agricultural modernization and its socio-economic consequences.
