A Glimpse of Assam

A Glimpse of Assam by Susan R. Ward, first published in 1884, offers a vivid portrayal of Assam during the late 19th century. Written from a colonial perspective, the book describes the region's natural beauty, landscapes, tea plantations, people, and customs. Ward provides both personal observations and descriptive sketches that highlight Assam's cultural and environmental richness. Though reflecting the biases of its time, the work remains an important source for understanding historical impressions of Assam under British rule.
