Towards Political Empowerment

Tribal polity in Kerala gains more attention today than ever before. The tribals of Kerala are now undergoing a period of transition from a stage of economic and political marginalization to that of empowerment. Their organizations and movements have already attained a prominent place in the political scenario of the state. This book provides an indepth analysis of the major political issues related to these indigenous sections. It highlights the issues of land alienations transformation of the tribal movements into political movements as well as the issues related to the transfer of political responsibility to the tribals through formal self government institutions at the grass root level.
