M.G. Ramachandran: My Blood Brother

The sudden demise of one of modern Indias most beloved sons, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MGR, who wars part of the national mainstream for many long years, creates a void difficult to fill not only in the State, but also in the ocuntrys political scene. MGR was not only Makkal Thilagam (the charismatic leader) with tremendous mass appeal, but also Puratchi Thalaivar (revolutionary leader), and an able politician who met the Congress challenge in the State politics, but cooperated also with it at the Centre. His rapport with the masses was like his political mentor late C.N. Annadurai and of course. Nehruvian.
