LEGISLATORS IN INDIAN POLITICS

Political participation is a necessary component of every democratic political system. The present study analyses the active involvement of legislators at various levels in the political system. Besides the impact of the socio-economic factors on the nature and extent of participation it also presents an extensive account of the background perception of legislators, dimensions of political participation, and intra-party and inter-party interactions at various levels in the legislature. This inter-disciplinary study will be of help to sociologists, political scientists and other social scientists in understanding the political processes taking place at grass roots level in contemporary India.
