Good Governance and Poverty Alleviation: A Study of SGSY Programme

This book analyses the extent to which decentralization and good governance contribute to poverty alleviation, with particular focus on the performance of Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY). Surveying the progress of SGSY programme at macro level in Madhya Pradesh, it makes an in-depth study of the participation of members in the formation and development of SGSY groups.
It further deals with the participation of the members in savings contribution and credit utilization. Also, it extends the discussion on linkages and synergy between SGSY groups and other actors such as banks and Gram Panchayats.
