E-Governance in India: Initiatives and Issues

The progress of e-governance in India has been slow and uneven. While intentions have been expressed and hypes have been created, often prematurely, the ground result is not commensurate with the expectations. There are some fundamental reasons for this. The book presents a systematic description of the initiatives taken towards e-governance by the Central Government and some selected state governments and analyses the factors that hamper its growth in India. The scenarios in some ICT-advanced countries in the world have also been presented.
The book is expected to provide information and stimulate technologists, planners and students of e-governance in general.
