Dynamics of Rural Labour: A Study of Small Holding Rubber Tappers in Kerala

This book makes a critical study of the dynamics of rural labour market in Kerala through a case study of tappers in small holding sector of natural rubber plantations. Taking a close look at the broader characteristics and underlying paradoxes of rural labour market in the state, it addresses the various issues related to employment, wages and labour tying mechanisms in the small holding sector of natural rubber plantations.
Analysing the contractual arrangements and employment relations in the small holding sector, it also explores the livelihood diversification process of tappers and tapper households in the context of the crisis in the sector.
