Diversification and Sustainable Rural Livelihood

This book attempts to study the complex links between occupational diversification and the concerns for sustainable rural livelihood in semi-arid areas in Western India. It captures the nature and magnitude of the process of occupational diversification and the growing external dependence of rural livelihood systems in the semi-arid areas, particularly in the context of a changing natural resource base.
Further examining the factors influencing the rural households to diversify, it assesses the role and impact of the interventions, specially those aimed at improving the livelihoods.
