The Indian Hindi film industry- Bollywood, portmanteau of “Bombay” and “Hollywood” is an undetachable part of India’s art, culture, economy, life style and entertainment. The liberation of economy, rise of middle class, granting industry status to film industry, mushrooming of cineplexes, growing strength of Indian diaspora, corporatisation of entertainment industry, incorporation of new technology, experimentation of themes among other significant factors brought some unprecedented changes to Hindi film industry in the post millennium. About the author
Manash Pratim Goswami, an alumnus of Punjabi University, Patiala, did his Masters in Journalism & Mass Communication. Prior to his post graduate degree, he has done his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Hon) from University of Delhi, one of the few globally acclaimed universities of India. He has done his Ph D on ‘Changing Trends of Publicity Strategies for Promotion of Hindi Films’. Presently, he is working as associate professor in the Department of Media and Communication, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur (TN). Previously, he had been working as assistant professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak. He has published more than three dozen of research papers and research articles primarily focused on art, culture, traditions and cinema. He regularly writes features for several leading newspapers, magazines and websites. In his writings, he usually presents kaleidoscopic views of art, culture, traditions and values of India.
