This book is the second of four lecturers delivered by the author under the auspices of the Madras University on the 29th January 1929 and the succeeding days as a part of the Oriental Research Institute. The first, lecture made a, survey of the research carried on with respect to the Dravidian languages and proposed to give a fresher orientation and, newer outlook to Dravidian research in accordance with the latest advances made in Philological investigation. The second and the third deaIt with the Dravidian racial and culture complexes and sought to establish the relationship of the Dravidians racially and culturally with the IndoEuropeans. In the fourth a detailed examination was made of the close connection between Telugu and Kanarese language. In this part the lectures explain the Dravidian racial and culture complex, a retrospect and prospect of Dravidian Philology, and the relationship of the Dravidian language with other old languages like Prakrit, Iranian, Vedic, Pali, Paisali, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Lahundi and Khas Kura.
