Narrative of a voyage undertaken in 1789 and 1790 to the Island of Seychelles and to Trincomale (Ceylon); and further into India to Calcutta (where the author sold his ship), Madras and then to Cochin. The book also notices the state of the French settlements in India, namely, Chandernagore in Bengal and Pondicherry. The book is replete with anecdotes and observance of every day life, the description of monuments, the execution of military exercises. The author devotes space to the fauna esp. horses, elephants and tigers. On his way back he goes via Mocha and Yemen and describes the customs and people of those lands too. This book is a reprint of the 1803 edition.
